POWER SCORE

The overall Power Score weakened just a bit this past week, though still remains bullish:

OUTPERFORMANCE & UNDERPERFORMANCE

It was a fascinating week of change.  I noticed some formally strong ETFs such as the MidCap Index (IWM) fall all the way to the 5th quadrant showing strong underperformance.  Saw the same/similar in several other mid and small cap ETF funds.  Does this indicate a shift or the end of the bull run?

Not necessarily since it seemed cash still stayed in the markets, but a clear rotation of sorts seems to be underway.  Check out this list of the TOP ETFs based upon their Power Score this week:

  • Italy
  • Austria
  • Mexico
  • Solar
  • Turkey
  • India
  • Spain
  • India
  • Netherlands
  • Emerging Asia
  • South Korea
  • Chile
  • France
  • Base Metals
  • Latin America
  • Nasdaq Internet

I find that quite fascinating.  Almost all of them belong to a global market.  We have to go all the way down to find the first typical US equity ETF (Nasdaq Internet) outside of Solar and Base Metals.  So, it’s not like we saw a big shift into defensive funds just yet, though have seen some improvement in bond funds of late.  But, there’s definitely been some clear re-allocation going on.

Moving into the Top Quadrant this week:

Power Shares Bade Metals/DBB, Japan Large Cap/ITF, Guggenheim BRIC ETF/EEB, Vectors Coal/KOL, iShares Belgium/EWK, Global Infrastructure/IFG, Germany Index Fund/EWG
Moving into the Lowest Quadrant this week:

iShares Russell 2000/IWM, Shipping ETF/SEA, Microcap ETF/IWC, Vanguard Small Cap/VBR, Leisure & Entertainment/PEJ, S&P Bank ETF/KBE

Remember, you can get to the Dashboard Here …   Quit paying for professional money managers and take control back.  Did you know that most of the ETFs we cover have fees well under 1% and you do not have to pay management fees (for typical underperformance!)

Thanks and great investing!
